Last month I got invited to a party organised by Pinterest to celebrate their launch of the Pin it Forward UK campaign where a selection of us UK bloggers get to spread the word of the pretty world of Pinterest. The party was a lot of fun and I got catch up with some old friends, such as Kat, plus we got to decorate our own cake pops and shot glasses…
I’m sure most of you have heard of Pinterest before, but for anyone who hasn’t, Pinterest is a tool for collecting and organising the things you love – visual bookmarking if you may. You can ‘pin’ things from around the web onto boards you create, on any topic you’d like – and the nice thing for us photographers is that if our images get pinned from our sites, they retain a link back to us and most pinners are also savvy enough to credit us in the descriptions.
Personally I use Pinterest for two different things. I pin some of my own photography in order to showcase my latest work, and to direct people towards my blog (and because my clients are so damn adorable that I would pin them anyways :P). Here’s a board with my own photography.
I also love to pin images from the kind of weddings that set me on fire visually. Pinterest is a great way to demonstrate your own visual preferences and aesthetic, and curating your own taste like this also tends to sharpen your own focus as well. I think any bride thinking of hiring me would know quite quickly whether our tastes align when taking a look at my wedding board full of pretty things.
Another thing I am pretty nuts about is beautiful stationery and lettering. I could look at all these beautiful invitations and and escort cards on my stationery board for hours and be quite content (and sometimes I, you know, do…).
So yes, I find Pinterest really useful for staying visually inspired and for discovering new ideas – to me Pinterest really stands for pretty. The fascinating thing is that for you it will look completely different, as it will be built around your visual preferences. Do follow me over there, or if you don’t have an account yet, start pinning by using this registration link!
Next up on the Pin it Forward UK schedule tomorrow, please welcome and be sure to check out Nicola from Belle Noir Bride!

I agree that for inspiration, Pinterest is hard to beat.
Finding the time to keep up with all the social sites as a photographer is the difficult part.
Thanks for reminding me to kick-start my own Pinterest portal!
