It was such a pleasure to plan and shoot this spring flower editorial with Steph of Fairy Nuff Flowers for Mennään naimisiin! (Let’s get married!) magazine in Finland. We also shot DIY tutorials for creating some of the flowery touches Steph designed, and I love how they laid everything out in the feature, everything looks so pretty. If you’re in Finland, the issue is out now! You can see more images here.
Spring Flower Editorial with Fairy Nuff Flowers
I always love it when I get to work with Steph from Fairy Nuff Flowers, and never more so than we we got to create a spring flower editorial for Mennään naimisiin! magazine in Finland. We shot this editorial in the depths of winter, and it was wonderful having all these gorgeous flowers around reminding us that spring would be on its way eventually!
Thank you so much to Andi Freeman Cakes for the gorgeous edible goodies, Berinmade for the pretty menus, The Sweet Hostess for the paper goods, and Rose & Ruby Paper Co. for the place cards (you can download a free printable here).
January 2015 press round-up
Over in the UK, a DIY shoot I did for Bridal Musings got featured in Wedding magazine.
Florence & Alvaro’s South of France wedding had a 7-page feature in Mennaan Naimisiin magazine in Finland!
Also in Mennaan Naimisiin, our Pink & Turquoise shoot with Fairy Nuff Flowers continued making waves.
And last but certainly not least, Rachel & Alexander’s Northbrook Park wedding day got featured in Wedding magazine.
Letting go of clutter & keeping good memories
I’ve been on a bit of an office de-cluttering kick (you can see my inspiration board de-cluttering over at Her Lovely Heart), and one of the things I did was to find all the hard copies of magazines with my work in, which were taking up shelf space in the office. It seemed crazy to waste so many shelves to back copies of old magazines I don’t read, so I decided to just save tear sheets of each in a folder (which turned into two). It was quite overwhelming to go through all the old issues, reminiscing over brilliant days and lovely couples. I could’t quite dump them all into recycling before taking a little snap to keep. Of course, after I’d restored the living room floor back to normalcy, I found another shelf-load of issues, but it’s ok, I think this photo will still be enough of a memory.
As an experience it was both proud and humbling, I guess you don’t really realise how the years stack up until you have such physical evidence. Thank you to all the magazines and lovely Editors who have featured my work over the years, and thank you to all my sassy clients who were the real stars of the show.
My assistant Astrid in action. I wouldn’t recommend her for these kind of jobs.
Interview in Mennään naimisiin magazine
Towards the end of last year I was interviewed for a Finnish wedding magazine, Mennään naimisiin (Let’s get married) about my approach to wedding photography and Beloved. The issue is now out in Finland, for those who are interested over there. It was truly a strange experience to read about yourself in Finnish, not something that happens too often! Quite fittingly, the article also features pictures of another Finn living and working in the UK, Minna, with whom I did a Beloved session last year.
